Baroque chateau with rich collections of the Waldstein (Wallenstein) family.
Originally Rennaisance chateau built at the beginning of the 17th century. At the end of the 17th century it was rebuilt in then modern Baroque style. In the interior there is a rich collection of furniture, Delftware, porcelain from Meissen, Japan or China, theatrical costumes, weaponry. The most unique rooms are fully functional historical theatre and library containing 22 thousand books, that was once cared of by Giacomo Casanova in Duchcov chateau. The chapel of St. Anna is final resting place of Albrecht of Wallenstein, imperial general from the Thirty Years War.
The chateau is managed by the National Heritage Institute. There are three tours for visitors.
1. Waldstein Interiors: Original period interiors with wall paintings from Georg Hisler from the late 18th century, Delphi faience from the 17th–19th centuries, Japanese and Meissen porcelain. Small gallery with 112 paintings, 18th century Waldstein library from Duchcov, which was run by Casanova.
2. Historical Theatre and Meeting of the Monarchs: Original Neo-Classical theatre with period scenery, dressing room for actors, armoury, memorial, Empire and hunting salons furnished on the occasion of the meeting of the Emperors of the Holy Alliance in 1833 at Mnichovo Hradiště.
3. Church with Baroque Statues: In the Adoration of the Magi Church and the Chapel of St. Anne there is the tomb of the famous leader of the Thirty Years' War Albrecht of Wallenstein, a permanent exhibition to honor his life and death, and a collection of Baroque sandstone statues.
