Our famous Castle is a National Cultural Asset of Spain which boasts a rich and legendary history inhabited by nobility including barons, knights, counts and marquis for more than a thousand years. In fact, a single elite family lived in the castle for over 800 years continuously! 

Location

The Castle is located in a perfect location of Catalonia with numerous charming medieval villages nearby as well as cultural routes and Michelin star restaurants. It is just15 minutes from Banyoles, 40 min from Girona and Figueres (Dali museum), less than 1 hour from the Mediterranean coast/Costa Brava beaches and France, 90 min from Barcelona and 2 hours from the ski area.

 Castell De Falgons is an authentic Castle with construction dating back to the 8th century AD. It contains four towers facing the cardinal points, expanded during the medieval ages of 12th and 14th centuries. The property consists of two buildings and nine hectares of land.

The main building is an authentic and beautiful Castle with 9500 sq ft (870m2) interior space with medieval charm. The Castle features an oversized master bedroom with a round bed, fireplace, spacious master bathroom suite as well as 5 additional bedrooms. There are 5 brand new bathrooms in the Castle (7 bathrooms total).

The Castle also features a gorgeous patio with mountain views and a Jacuzzi, original wood entrance door, exterior space formerly dedicated to producing and storing olive oil, heated floors, central air conditioning, original stained glass, 2 fireplaces, temple, 1 large ballroom / meeting room, 1 large wine cellar (with converible couches/beds to fit 4 additional people), cognac room/library(with 1 convertible couch/bed to fit 2 additional people) and 2 lookout towers. The Castle offers wonderful entertaining space including a large living room that opens onto a generous south facing terrace and a beautiful fully-equipped kitchen with gorgeous natural lighting. 

Next to the Castle, there is a guest house (Castellot) of 2800 sq feet (254m2), also fully restored with views of the surrounding hills. The house consists of 3 bedrooms, a living room which is set up as a 4th bedroom with a large window allowing natural lighting, 2 new bathrooms and a large and fully equipped kitchen combined with a dining room. Both buildings are surrounded by mountains.

The Castle and its characters carry much legend and fame. As one example “El Comte Desperta Ferro” (The Knight and Count Guillem Galceran II of Cartellà), a historical figure of the thirteenth century, of a life full of adventure, war, politics and power, which invites us to the legend and let your imagination run wild. Spanish historians have prepared an extensive biography of different characters including Guillem. On the other hand, graphic designers, publicists and illustrators created comic books, recreating Guillem adventures and life in the Castle, where he was born and lived in the 13th century.

Single family lived in the Castle for almost 800 years until 18th century! After that the Castle changed ownerships several times until Ukranian born American family purchased the Castle 3 years ago, fully restored and renovated it!
